The buzz for the Bodog Sunday $100K Guaranteed tournament continues to grow, and this week 497 players played for the $100K. Bodog added an extra $25,450 (an overlay of 25.45%) to bring the prize up to the guaranteed limit, and when it was all over “fakker11” was the winner of the $25K first-place prize. It was a big boost to the bankroll of the winning limit-holdem grinder, who spends most of his time playing $3/$6 limit cash games.

In the heads-up battle he beat out an accomplished MTT shark named “pokerarg”, who had to settle for the $15K second-place prize. “pokerarg” has won hundreds of thousands of dollars playing online poker tournaments over the last couple of years, but wasn’t able to close it out on Sunday. The complete final table results look like this;

1. fakker11 – $25,000.00
2. pokerarg – $15,000.00
3. Jack0fAllTrades – $9,500.00
4. chiquita – $7,000.00
5. iLLNuGWichee – $5,500.00
6. Papadelpoker – $4,500.00
7. MuffinMuffinMan – $3,500.00

L.A. Poker Classic Update http://beat.bodoglife.com/poker/l-a-poker-classic-update-55833.html http://beat.bodoglife.com/poker/l-a-poker-classic-update-55833.html#comments Tue, 26 Jan 2010 02:05:08 +0000 BigpoppaThaShowstoppa http://beat.bodoglife.com/?p=31053 Organizers knew the first event of the L.A. Poker Classic would be big, but not this big. An amazing 5,847 entrants paid the $335 to play for their share of the $1,683,936 prize pool. It has become one of the largest live poker tournaments in a casino ever, and action has been fast and furious over the last couple of days. The Commerce Casino didn’t have to add on an overlay in the $1M guaranteed with a field that big, and poker rooms were to capacity with amateurs hoping to land a big payday.

The winner of the tournament will take home a $363,936 paycheck and the pride of beating one of the biggest playing fields in organized poker tournament history. Second place will get $189,480; while third will receive $107,970. More updates will follow throughout the month until the $10K Main Event and $25K High Roller events play out in early March.

(I bet you any money if douchebag over there with the chip on his shoulder won $25K or heck even $1,700 he'd think it was a pretty big deal. Am I right?)

T.J. Cloutier 2005 WSOP $5K No Limit Bracelet for Sale on eBay http://beat.bodoglife.com/poker/t-j-cloutier-2005-wsop-5k-no-limit-bracelet-for-sale-on-ebay-87312.html http://beat.bodoglife.com/poker/t-j-cloutier-2005-wsop-5k-no-limit-bracelet-for-sale-on-ebay-87312.html#comments Thu, 21 Jan 2010 00:24:01 +0000 Maria Starr http://beat.bodoglife.com/?p=30910 2009 WSOP Updates

The folks over at eBay are only giving you another three days (as of this posting) to bid on poker pro T.J. Cloutier's diamond and gold WSOP bracelet — the very same bracelet Cloutier won at the 2005 WSOP $5K No Limit tournament.

I don't know if y'all can remember that far back into WSOP history, but this particular bracelet was up for grabs during Event #13 on June 14th 2005 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. T.J. Cloutier was one of 466 entrants who were playing for a prize pool of $2,190,200 that day. The first-place prize paid Cloutier $657,100 and of course the bejeweled WSOP bracelet — Cloutier's 6th such bracelet and his 37th final table appearance.

"It always feels good to win," Cloutier said afterward. "I'm not ready for the pasture just yet. I still have a few more wins left in me. (John) Bonetti was here tonight and he's 12 years older than me. So, maybe I can still be doing it when I'm his age. Compared to him, I'm still a kid."

Who knows, maybe T.J. Cloutier has played one too many sidegames (he's got it bad for craps, apparently) and now he's hurting for cash? Well, the bidding starts at US $2,999.00 for this piece of poker history.

For the third time “ImTheJackal” has taken down the weekly event, making him the first player ever to accomplish this Bodog Poker hat-trick. He also won the $100K Guaranteed in August 2007 and in June 2008. “ImTheJackal” also made the final table of this tournament many times over the years. And what’s most impressive about this player is that he’s a part-timer who has a day job and two children.

This time he beat out a field of 476 players to take down the $25K first-place prize. Bodog added an extra $28,600 to the prize pool and the final table looked like this:

1. ImTheJackal $25,000.00

2. luca73 $15,000.00

3. NachoChips $9,500.00

4. Longhorn_99 $7,000.00

The New Year is the start of the grind for the big name poker professionals, and the Aussie Millions always kicks off a new poker season in a big way. This year there will be 20 events played from Jan 14 to 31. Besides the $10,500 Main Event starting on Jan 24, the list of tournaments includes a $10,500 Pot Limit Omaha event and a high roller $100,500 PL/NLHE event starting on Jan 23.

Most events are $1,100 or less to play, and there will be everything from shootout, mixed games, and heads-up action open for registration. This year’s Main Event is expected to attract nearly 800 entrants and should have a first-place prize of close to two million Australian dollars. Local champion Stewart Scott will be trying to defend his 2009 title, but he’ll have his work cut out for him against the best tournament players in the world.

These tournaments give the average player more time and chips for their buy-in fee, and despite taking a bit longer to play out, casinos are offering these events with more regularity than before. Casino players in Reno will get the action they’re looking for when the 2010 Deep Stack Poker Extravaganza begins on Jan 13 at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino.

For four days three daily tournaments will be run at noon, 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. Buy-ins will be $120, $170, $225, or $330. For the smaller tournaments players will start with 8,000 in chips, while the $225 events will give players 10,000 in starting chips. And for the big $330 events each player will start out with 12,000 in chips. As an added bonus all tournaments will offer each player an option to receive an extra 2,000 in starting chips if they’re willing to put up a $10 dealer bonus.
